Course Objectives    

To provide the participant with the basic knowledge to identify, assess and control manual handling risks in their workplace.

Learning Outcomes    

Upon completion of this course participants will gain:

- Understanding of Legislative requirements

- Correct manual handling techniques and principles

- Ability to identify, assess and control manual handling risks in the workplace

- An introduction to ergonomic assessment tools

Course Delivery

This course can be delivered/assessed in the workplace or at facility organised by the training provider.

Course Durations

Course durations can vary for multiple reasons, so the durations below are the minimum possible amount.

Face-to-Face Face to Face contact time of at least 2 Hours

Prerequisites Basic literacy & numeracy skills

Participants must Wear fully enclosed, non-slip safety footwear (excludes sports shoes), shirt and long pants/ trousers.

This certificate has an industry recommended renewal period of 24 months

Participants are required to complete 3 practical manual handling activities relevant to their industry and identify and consider:

the four risk factors: Load, Individual, Task, and Environment.

Identify people at risk.

Identify what is provided to control the risk.

Identify further action and who needs to carry it out.

Complete the manual handling tasks

Complete documentation related to manual handling
